Mental Health Awareness Week – May 2019.
The amount of Food and Fitness programmes online to help with weight-loss are ten a penny, but what if we look at the role of Food and Fitness on our mental health.
As an exercise referral specialist working with clients with Cardiovascular, Respiratory, Endocrine, Metabolic, Musculoskeletal and Mental Health challenges I have seen how food and fitness choices have such a positive or negative influence depending on the choices you make.
Take a look at the TED videos below and see how embracing food and fitness has had a positive impact on these people’s lives.
Why fitness is more important than weight | Leanne Spencer | TEDxWandsworth https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-SLP1BF7KBQ
The surprisingly dramatic role of nutrition in mental health | Julia Rucklidge | TEDxChristchurch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3dqXHHCc5lA
The brain-changing benefits of exercise | Wendy Suzuki https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BHY0FxzoKZE
By shifting the fitness focus away from weight loss, food and fitness becomes so much more. Whatever your starting point positive changes will be experienced.
