Your Top 5 Reasons why you are not getting the food and fitness results you want at 40+

February 12, 2019

You are working with a Fitness Professional 3 times a week.

You are giving 100% during your Fitness sessions.

Your Food and Fitness Professional has a good track record.

So why is it not working for you?

Here are the 5 most common reasons why?

Unrealistic Expectations

Employing a Food and Fitness Consultant and working out 3 times a week is a fantastic commitment and exactly what you should be doing BUT its one part of the jigsaw puzzle.  Your food intake is crucial, and is often emotive meaning its far more challenging to address.  Your quality of sleep, stress levels, daily activity and recovery rates all play a part in your progress.  The Food and Fitness Industry is one of the easiest to research and find out information BUT its also one of the most misinformed and confused.  Getting your Food and Fitness on track and achieving the results you desire takes time.

You want to stay in your comfort zone.

“Real change is difficult at the beginning, but gorgeous at the end. Change begins the moment you get the courage and step outside your comfort zone; change begins at the end of your comfort zone.”

― Roy T. Bennett

It takes courage to work with a professional and admit you want to make changes, but you have to be prepared to step out of your comfort zone to make that happen.  Turning up 3 times a week for a fitness session is probably the easiest part of the puzzle of food and fitness, what you do during your time outside of those 3 sessions plays a significant part.  Be prepared for your body to hurt a little, this is normal, be prepared to be 100% honest with your self about your food and drink intake, be prepared to be frustrated, be prepared to have to push yourself mentally and physically and if you do then you will work towards the results you want.

Life gets in the way.

A good Food and Fitness Consultant or PT knows how to programme progressively to continually stress the muscles in order to achieve goals but with the best programme in the world linear progression is very rare.  Illness, fatigue, holidays, commitment, mental state, food intake or lack of, nights out all play a part in your progress.  A good professional will be able to adapt the fitness programme there and then for the circumstances presented but that also means that at times the progression is going to be slower than anticipated.

The approach isn’t right for you.

There are plenty of options out there to support your Food and Fitness from Free You Tube videos to 1-1 support. Its important to do your research and work with someone whose philosophy and approach resonates with you.

My approach is holistic, I address food and fitness not just for your physical benefits, but for your emotional and mental Well-being aswell.  If you are working towards your next Crossfit championship in 8 weeks then I am probably not the right person for you but if you have endless cycles of tried and failed food and fitness attempts, want to lose body fat at 40+, sleep better, reduce stress, increase energy levels, prepare your body and mind for the menopause, and be the best version of you then I am right for you.

Lack of Consistency

Whatever approach you choose then it’s important to embrace 100% of the strategies presented, this is how you get the results.  Consistency is one of the most crucial elements to achieve success but one of the most difficult.  A good professional will roll out the strategies bit by bit when you are ready in order that you have the tools to make the changes you need.  If you choose to embrace 20% of the tools and strategies then it’s reasonable to expect 20% of the success but embrace 80% of the tools and strategies then you give yourself a far better opportunity to succeed.

My approach is holistic, I address food and fitness not just for the physical results, but for the benefits to you emotionally and mentally.  If you have endless cycles of tried and failed food and fitness attempts, want to lose body fat at 40+, sleep better, reduce stress, increase energy levels, prepare your body and mind for the menopause and be the best version of you then I might be right for you.
