"Real" Recipe of the Month: August 2018 - Tuscan Infused Breakfast Smoothie

I am a big fan of making use of local, in season produce and am lucky enough to be in Tuscany where we have an abundance of basil and rosemary in the garden.  We often associate basil with Pesto or in as a garnish on a Capresse.  Basil and Rosemary work very well with sweet flavours and add nutritional density to this breakfast smoothie.

 

Basil is an anti-inflammatory and a good source of Vitamin K which has an important role in strengthening bones.  Basil is widely used in ayurvedic medicines for curing a variety of common ailments including treatment of allergies and respiratory disorders.

 

Rosemary is a super source of Vitamin A beneficial of eye health.  With its beautiful aroma and taste it adds a "feel good" effect to many dishes.  Its a good source of fibre which aids with digestion.  With anti oxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits it is also know to have positive effects on memory and acts as a natural remedy for headaches.
